Thoughts, memories and ruminations: some locked away, some emerging and drifting towards the surface of consciousness. Sometimes legible, sometimes filed in the back of one’s mind. Where do the stories go? In what mental files are memories stored from whence they will not emerge? I saw my grandmother forgetting, repeating, looking out into a space only she knew. She recited poems from her childhood, but forgot the sweets she just ate. Using books rendered illegible and chaotic, some inscribed with asemic writing, I try to portray this loss of precious remembrances and musings in tangible visual form.
